Welcome to our new writers. With co-editor Brenda Layman, I look forward to seeing your work on the platform “by writers for writers,” where you “showcase your writing for the world to see.” We encourage you to be active on the site, posting your stories as well as constructively commenting on your fellow writers’ work. We are always receptive to suggestions for site improvements, so don’t hesitate to suggest ways that FWP can be a better platform for you.

July Theme
The July Theme is Independence/Rebellion. When you submit a story with the July theme remember to add the tag, independence/rebellion, to assure we include your story when we judge the theme winner. July’s winner will receive a free copy of Writing and Publishing in a Nutshell.
New FWP Partners
In the spirit of advancing writing/publishing opportunities for fiction writers, we actively seek partnerships from compatible websites willing to cross-promote and/or offer discounts to FWP writers.
Recent partnerships:
The Writing Hall, Diane Hall’s coaching/editing site. See the Notices and Updates interview with Diane.
The Readers Pad, Franco Santos’s book review site, where writers can post a review of their books.
June Monthly Theme Award
We didn’t award a monthly theme (Baseball, Hotdogs, and Beer) in June.
Recent Editors’ Choice Awards
Waltzing with Birdie, by Kate Campbell
The Power of Suggestion, by Anne O’Connell
American Heroes, by Alfred Wellnitz

Display Your Best Work
Our theme here at FWP is “Showcase your writing for the world to see.” Remember, the world judges your work from several viewpoints. Certainly a captivating story is important, as is the lack of spelling and grammatical errors, and overall appearance and readability. Obvious errors and unattractive formatting greatly diminish even the best story.
You’ve worked hard to craft a story. Be sure your post displays your work at it’s best. The world is watching.
Notices and Updates
Check the Notices and Updates page for news and opportunities available to FWP writers, such as the recent interview with writing coach and editor Diane Hall. Diane is offering a 15% discount to FWP writers.
Publicity
Last month we commented on the necessity for writers to publicize their work. Kate reported that publicizing her Editors’ Choice Award story “started an avalanche of congratulations, comments and personal updates.” That’s the purpose of displaying your work on our platform, to get people reading, commenting, and sharing your work.
If you are reluctant to publicize, thinking it’s “tooting your own horn,” think of it this way: You’re providing a service by giving readers an opportunity to read good fiction, notifying them where it is, what it’s about, and inviting their readership.
Let Us Know
What benefits have you seen from your membership at FWP? Increased sales of books? Interest from publishers or agents? Expanded network of fans and followers? Useful feedback on your writing? Please share your experiences using FWP. This will help the stature of FWP and other writers, too. Send your experiences by return email and note if you’d like to remain anonymous. Otherwise I’ll use your first name.
Thanks for being an active FWP writer. We appreciate your contributions.
Jerry and Brenda
