Excerpt: Lest Darkness Prevail - Morcai Sees Light

This excerpt from Lest Darkness Prevail features a precocious 3-year-old named Morcai as he gives his godfather and other family members an unexpected surprise.

“Shi’níyah, are you all right?” Warnach rose on his elbow and leaned over her shoulder.

Twisting onto her back, she expelled a frustrated breath. “I’m so tired of not being able to sleep.

Wrong Place, Wrong Time - The d'Arc - Chapter 1 (excerpt)

A blustery wind blew across the River Thames as Diane Firestone, carrying a yellow wicker picnic basket, walked back to a leased 1936 Riley Kestrel parked near a large hackberry tree off to the side of the road.  The breeze was strong enough to make it difficult for her to hold the trunk lid open

Quest for Onepus - Part 2

She smiled, got up and mock saluted me. Who was she?

“Isn’t it a little dangerous for you to be out on your own?” I asked quite bluntly, ignoring the hypocrisy of the question – she didn’t.

She raised an eyebrow and said, “I would ask you the same thing, Captain.”

“You’re a woman.” I knew it was

The Enlightened Robot

For ten years now, I have dedicated myself to my spiritual practice, and ‘The Enlightened Robot’ reflects this.

The story was actually written for BBC Radio. In 2004, my short story ‘City of Victory’ was broadcast on Radio 4 and last year I had been invited to submit fiction in the science fiction/fantasy category. The Enlightened Robot was the result. First published by Cezanne’s Carrot, it is a story set in the far future when spirituality is a thing of the past, thus giving rise to a bleakness of spirit.
