JohnMakin
John Makin has 1 posts.
Bio: I started work fitting tyres on anything from wheelbarrows to earth-movers. Then I became a software engineer, from correcting programs to designing and building systems.
In contrast to that rather sedentary occupation, my outside interests were essentially practical, learning to a level of competency any skill that opportunity presented. From cooking, knitting and gardening to building dry stone walls, wood-working and rock climbing.
I retired early following a mountaineering accident. As a part of my recovery I found that trying to write what I felt, resulted in poetry. Collected into a small book, self published but never distributed.
Then I wrote a fantasy novel, printed it and hand bound it – just to feel how it was done.
I then became interested in the whole arena of writing and am now returning to that first effort and rewriting it with more insight into what I am doing. I am learning all the time, writing when-ever and where-ever the opportunity presents itself.
The benefits that accrue from accepting the advice inherent in reviews are immense, if one has the humility to weigh them and accept rather than deny what they are saying.
I acknowledge that I am a mere tyro compared to the majority on here but trust that you will look kindly upon my desire to develop my skills.
Karen Cole
Karen Cole has 1 posts.
Bio: I have been on the Internet since 2003 as a ghost writer, rewriter, copy editor and proof reader of book manuscripts, and I have performed many other types of freelance and contracted writing jobs. I have worked on some 150 books over my lifetime, ghost writing, rewriting, copy editing and proof reading for book authors. I usually only take credit as the “editor” when I ghost write or copy edit for an author, and my fees are lower than industry standard rates for most ghost writers, rewriters, copy editors and proof readers.
I am always on the lookout for new writers to hire and new first-time clients!

lucretius
Lucretius Coleman has 3 posts.
Bio: I’m a first-year Physics graduate student who spends his long drives from Mississippi to Texas thinking of new ideas and writing/enacting stories and publishable content in his head. I’ve been a comic book geek since I was 12, an internet philosopher since 18, and a wannabe media inventor since five minutes in the future. I love the beauty of short form fiction a la Maupassant, the ticklish excitement of flowery prose a la Bradbury, and the strict directness of blunt imagery a la Hemingway. Alas, this is countered by my love for bad black-and-white sci-fi from the 50s, bad Benetar-esque pop music from the 80s, and Bridezillas and the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Whether my writing’s good, bad, or ugly, I hope it’s always entertaining.
