Posting Your Fiction
- FWP is based on Wordpress software. Contributors unfamiliar with Wordpress should read the Wordpress Writing Posts user documentation.
- To enter your FWP contribution after logging-in, navigate to the Posts -> Add New link on the left sidebar. Enter your writing contribution by cutting-and-pasting from a text editor or by typing it directly into FWP’s Add New Post window.
- Add formatting, including paragraphing and subheadings as appropriate for appearance and readability.
- If your material is long, greater than 1000 words, you can improve readability by breaking it into multiple pages. To do this: Enter the edit screen for your post. Click on the HTML tab. Locate your cursor where you want a page break. Insert <!- -nextpage- -> (No space between the dashes; it’s <!dashdashnextpagedashdash>). See the Wordpress document covering nextpage. Repeat for multiple pages.
- Select appropriate categories fitting your material.
- Select or create appropriate tags fitting your material.
- You may include one or more images appropriate to your material.
- You may include up to two Google Adsense text/image ads within your material to participate in any accruing revenue. Follow the Revenue Sharing Guidelines.
- Save as a draft if you’re not ready to publish. Preview changes to preview your post in a separate window.
- When you’re satisfied with your contribution, click the publish button (upper right sidebar). FWP editors will review all newly published and edited contributions.
FWP encourages readers to rate and comment on the fiction material posted. Though everyone hopes to receive five-star ratings and enthusiastic comments, lessor ratings and unfavorable comments are opportunities to learn and improve—a goal of FWP.
The code to record and display the number of times your material is viewed and the code to allow viewers to rate your work are automatically included in every post.
To gain the full benefit of having a writing platform be sure to notify your network of family, friends, fellow writers, and followers on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and other social networks. You can do this with the Share This icon at the end of every published post.
